In 1983, the production of sports mats began in a Stockerau family home.

In 1986, the general agency of Netzfabrik Manfred Huck was taken over for Austria. The company HUCK is one of the most important network manufacturers and supplies not only sports nets but also safety nets and rope play equipment. Thus, the first foreign branch of HUCK was born. This already happened at the current location which was purchased on 01.03.1986. In today’s office sports mats were produced until 1991.

In 1987, Johann Berger Senior and his family built the first 180 m² warehouse on their own.

In 1991, the new production hall of 350 m² was inaugurated. In 2001, the last expansion stage in Stockerau with the construction of the warehouse for pallets with 450 m².
Together with the company HUCK, the first foreign agency, the Berger-HUCK in the Czech Republic, was established in 1992. In the same year Johann Berger Junior officially joined the company. Then in 1995 the Bohemian Mattenwerke Berger (BMB) was founded in the Czech Republic. After establishing the production of sports mats in the Czech Republic, another breakthrough on the European market was achieved.

In order to meet the corresponding European standards as well as the internal quality requirements in the development of new types of mats as well as in series production, tests are carried out continuously in the in-house test and test laboratory. Only materials of the highest quality are used for the production, which are also continuously tested there for their quality. All composite foams and PU flexible foams used are certified according to ÖKO Tex 100. A large part of the used cover materials are phthalate-free!

In the past years also some patents and utility models could be registered. Various innovation certificates underline the efforts to bring new products to the market again and again. Certificates and quality seals bear witness to close cooperation with individual national and international associations. Permanent participation in the Austrian and European standardization committees, ongoing TÜV and in-house tests represent our high quality and safety standards.

Today, the most important sporting goods distribution companies and sports hall fitters in Europe sell Berger quality products. The main sales markets include Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France and many other European countries.
